Is UK manufacturing prepared for net zero? Drawing on research with 152 executives at UK-based manufacturers, a white paper from Vendigital provides an interesting snapshot as to where the manufacturing sector is at on its journey to decarbonisation.

Some of the revealing statistics of the survey of UK manufacturers include:

  • One in three don’t consider carbon emissions when sourcing a new part or developing a new product
  • Over two-thirds would only adopt a net zero-led sourcing strategy if it delivered a net cost benefit too
  • One in five of new customers ask about a product’s carbon footprint before making a purchase
  • 80% believe that Environmental, Social and Governance performance has a direct impact on customers’ buying decisions

The NSG Group first established a sustainability policy in 2009 and has promoted sustainability activities throughout the group. To respond to climate change, we have set Science-Based CO2 reduction targets and we actively work to shift to renewable energy and reduce CO2 emissions in our manufacturing processes. Together with the further creation of environmentally-friendly products, the target forms the framework of the NSG Group's climate change strategy. We also have a target to reduce CO2 emissions per unit production.
