Pilkington K Glass™ Range
UK-manufactured, low-emissivity glass.
Range Overview
The Pilkington K Glass™ Range comprises UK-manufactured, low-emissivity (low-e) glass intended to reduce levels of heat escaping your home through the glass in windows.
When positioned on the inner pane of double and triple glazing units, the coatings reflect heat back into the room whilst also letting in free heat from the sun, known as passive solar gain.
Established over the last 30+ years, the Pilkington K Glass™ Range is widely stocked, processed, and installed by UK insulated glazing unit manufacturers and window installers.
Products in the range:
- Pilkington K Glass™: the original low-e glass chosen for UK homes since 1989.
- Pilkington K Glass™ A: a development of the original Pilkington K Glass™, with improved thermal (low-e) insulation properties for Window Energy Ratings (WER).
- Pilkington K Glass™ S: an off-line coated low-e glass; the highest-performing product in the range.
All products in the range have a neutral appearance making it an ideal choice for fabricators, glaziers and installers looking to optimise WER and meet regulatory requirements (e.g. minimum band B for windows in Table 4.2 of The Building Regulations 2010 (England) Approved Document L Volume 1).
Key features
- Low-e coatings reflect heat back into the room, reducing heat loss.
- Allows heat from the sun (passive solar gain) to enter the home/building.
- Can help windows achieve WERs band B and higher across PVC-U, timber and aluminium frames.
- Neutral view through glass due to high light transmission.
- Available in annealed form and can be toughened or laminated without compromising performance or appearance.
