Light spill or light pollution is excessive, misdirected, or obtrusive artificial light, often emitted from buildings. If there is too much light pollution, it can wash out starlight in the night sky, interfere with astronomical research and disrupts ecosystems.

What glass will achieve P5A? Laminated safety glass is needed to meet the various classification of BS EN 356 for resistance to manual attack. On the 12 th December, the project partners met at the Pilkington UK site to see the carbon capture unit in action. The unit captures carbon from the float furnaces flue which, in future, could then be stored or further utilised.

From 15 th June 2022, new Part O building regulations came into force, changing the way that architects must design new dwellings in England to prevent residents from experiencing extreme temperatures during the summer, while also reducing reliance on cooling systems.

The assessment is conducted by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) experts of EcoVadis on the basis of company answers to a survey which is dynamically adapted to country, sector and size, using scorecards covering 150 industry categories and 21 CSR criteria.

Glass manufactured by Pilkington is only marked if it is safety glass. Safety glass (toughened, laminated etc) is required to be visibly stamped with the relevant British or European standard, (eg. BS EN 12150 for toughened glass or BS EN 14449 for laminated glass).
