What does A, B and C refer to in the classification of safety glass?
This refers to the mode of breakage that the glass would be expected to demonstrate when broken. BS EN 12600 categorises three modes of breakage as follows:
- numerous cracks appear, forming separate fragments (typical of annealed glass)
- numerous cracks appear, fragments held together (typical of laminated safety glass)
- disintegration into large number of small particles (typical of toughened glass)
