For this project, the architect chose to install 50,000 square metres of Pilkington Suncool™ One 30/21 solar control glass so that residents and guests enjoy both stunning vistas in cool, comfortable surroundings.

Optikool™ and EZ-KOOL® are green, optimised solar absorbing glasses, providing significant improvement to occupant comfort. The products reduce the heat entering through a vehicle's glazed area by around 20 per cent when compared to a car equipped with standard tinted glass.

Pilkington Suncool™ One is a neutral product, which provides excellent solar control, keeping your conservatory cooler on hot days. The added benefit is its thermal coating, so during cooler weather, it works by reducing the amount of heat escaping from the room.

Pilkington Activ Suncool™ Pro T offers additional safety and mechanical strength properties after toughening. Pilkington Activ SunShade™ combines dual action, self-cleaning properties with medium solar control performance and an aesthetically pleasing appearance to reduce the amount of direct sunlight that penetrates into a building.

For glazing that is South or West facing (these receive the most solar heat) we would recommend Pilkington Suncool™ One 60/40 to provide year-round comfort especially in large areas of glazing such as bi-fold doors or orangeries.
