Does Pilkington Pyroclear® have an impact safety classification in accordance with BS EN 12600? Yes. It achieves the highest possible classification for a toughened glass of Class 1 (C)1. Does Pilkington Pyroclear® need to be glazed by approved installers? No. There is no standard or certification basis for approving installers.

For double glazing the lower pane should be one of either Pilkington Optilam™ or Pilkington Pyroshield™ 2 and the upper pane need not be a safety glass. The regulations allow the use of toughened glass overhead, however, if toughened glass is used as the lower pane then a safety glass must be used in the upper pane.
