Replacement Conservatory Roofs

Replacement Conservatory Roofs

You may not realise it but simply replacing your plastic conservatory roof with a new glass roof, incorporating Pilkington Activ™ Self-cleaning glass, will have a tremendous effect on the way your conservatory looks, feels and sounds. It will transform your conservatory from a cold room only used in the summer into a wonderful and useable extension to your home, one that can be enjoyed all year round come rain or shine.

When fitted with Pilkington Activ™ combined with a thermally efficient glass such as Pilkington Optitherm™ S1 Plus, your transformed conservatory will be warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer and will look cleaner than ordinary glass.

With a plastic roof, a light shower can sound more like a hailstorm. But with a new glass roof, you might not even notice it's raining.
Don't let the rain put a dampener on you spending time in your conservatory. With a new glass conservatory roof incorporating Pilkington Activ™ self-cleaning glass, this bright room can be one of the nicest places to relax in the house. The only thing you'll hear when it rains is the glass getting cleaned without you raising a finger.

Solar Control

Solar-control glass delivers greater comfort throughout the year.

By replacing your old plastic or glass roof with new IGU's consisting of a Pilkington Activ™ Range glass with solar control properties such as Pilkington Activ™ Blue, you can keep your conservatory cooler in the warmer seasons, maintaining your conservatory as a comfortable room all year round.
Including a glass like Pilkington Suncool™ 66/33 in a conservatory IGU lets 66% of the light into the building while only letting 33% of the solar gain. This would result in an un-noticeable blockage of light, while giving you greater control of the temperature in your conservatory.

Thermal Efficiency

Plastic roofs are not energy-efficient, so you could end up paying more for your heating bills for a room you're less likely to use because it's uncomfortably cold, compared to investing in a glass roof which will be cheaper to keep in the long run.

By replacing your conservatory roof with a glass conservatory roof incorporating thermally-efficient glass such as glass from our Pilkington K Glass™ Range your conservatory will be transformed into a comfortable extension of your room which you can even use in the winter months. Thermal efficient glass allows heat to enter through the windows , but doesn't allow heat to leave.

Combine a thermally efficient glass with a solar control glass, such as Pilkington Suncool™ 66/33 and you'll have complete control over the temperature of your conservatory throughout the year. Take it a step further and combine a thermally efficient glass with Pilkington Activ Suncool™ self-cleaning, solar control glass to have complete control of the temperature in your conservatory and to reduce the need to clean the glass.

Self Cleaning

Pilkington Activ™ is the world's first self-cleaning glass. This clever glazing product has a unique dual action microscopic coating, making it ideal for use in conservatory roof replacements or conservatory conversions.
The coating reacts with daylight to break down organic dirt. Then, when rainwater hits the glass it spreads evenly, running off in a sheet and taking the loosened dirt with it. It also dries quickly reducing streaks. All you need to do is give the glass an occasional hose during dry spells.

The Pilkington Activ™ range of self-cleaning glass comprises of:
  • Pilkington Activ™ Clear
  • Self-cleaning glass with Solar-control properties:
    • Pilkington Activ™ Blue
    • Pilkington Activ™ Bronze
    • Pilkington Activ SunShade™
    • Pilkington Activ Suncool™ Blue

Each of these products has its own unique and shared benefits
