EU Legislation

EU Legislation overview

EU legislation and policies can have a huge impact on the market for glass in Europe.  Existing directives such as the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and the Energy Efficiency Directive, as well as the forthcoming European Green Deal and European Climate Law, are expected to create growth opportunities for high performance glass.  Our products are expected to make a significant contribution to decarbonisation of the building stock in Europe by 2050 and various studies have demonstrated the important role that glass can play in realising energy savings and CO2 emission reductions in nearly zero energy buildings.

We are an active member of Glass for Europe, the trade association of Europe’s flat glass manufacturers.Through Glass for Europe, we aim to share with policymakers our vision of the flat glass industry and help to develop European and national regulations, standards and policies adapted to market needs and legal obligations.
