We are pleased to announce that Pilkington Automotive Poland Sp. z o. o. with headquarters in Sandomierz, ul. Portowa 24, 27-600 Sandomierz, on the basis of the Project co-financing agreement no. POIR.01.01.01-00-0550 / 19-00, signed with the National Center for Research and Development on 31.10.2019, implements an investment project in 2019-2021 The plant in Chmielów: "Research and development works on the development of an unprecedented window bending technology with Low E coatings to provide a new range of products for the automotive industry with parameters that allow reducing heat transfer through roof glass."

Project goals and effects:

The project aims to develop an innovative, so far not used in mass production technology, bending of car roof windows with functional coatings applied on both glass formats, whose key task will be to significantly reduce the heat transfer coefficient through the glass roof of the car. The activities covered by the project constitute an innovative process confession and are to lead to a product significantly exceeding functionally classic roof shafts. 

The project, when achieving the assumed objectives of research and development, will lead to the development of a complete, new and innovative technology for bending glass with coatings that reduce energy loss (reflection) on existing production lines. Achieving this goal requires a change in approach to the bending process of glass panes with coatings compared to the technology currently used at the Applicant's plants used for the production of windscreens and roof windows. The company assumes that after the roof pane has been formed, the properties of the Low E coating will remain unchanged. After the introduction of process innovation being the subject of this Project, the existing glass bending production line will become universal - it will be able to bend both traditional glass and glass with reflective coatings (the project is about providing the second feature).
