On Thursday, June 1st, the fourth edition of the "Transparency with Women" event was held, featuring a lecture by presenter, entrepreneur, and model Ana Hickmann. The event also featured other inspiring women such as Valéria Sanseverino, a therapist who pursued her dream at age 50, Jolanta Lessig, European Marketing Communications Manager of Architectural Glass business line at NSG Group, and Ana Júlia Kachan, President of the Second Ethics Court of the OAB/SP.
The event, which is already part of the company's fixed calendar of events, had "Time on our side" as its central theme and brought to the discussion the woman's relationship with time, leadership, entrepreneurship, and career. In 2022, as a result of this event, Blindex®️ received the "São Paulo Diversity Seal" from the Government of the State of São Paulo. This certification highlights good business practices such as the concern and inclusion of topics related to ethnic, racial, gender, age, and LGBTQIA+ issues. The award was created to encourage companies to spread a culture of respect, appreciation and promotion of equality in the workplace.
The event began with the General Manager of Blindex®, Glória Cardoso, highlighting that the company's Inclusion and Diversity Committee now has an extra pillar, Equity, and that it is necessary to bring up the discussion about the female presence in the market throughout the year, not just in March, when International Women's Day is celebrated.
Topics such as comfort zone, ageism, aging, stereotypes and prejudices imposed by society were demystified after the presentation of Instituto Jovens de Coração, a tap-dancing group that for 10 years has been empowering women from São José dos Campos (countryside in São Paulo) with more than 60 years of dancing.
Valéria Sanseverino told her story of overcoming, the changes that were happening in her life, mainly professional, when she discovered that she had an early menopause at the age of 38. Now 56, she is an entrepreneur, coach, influencer and model. Next, Jolanta Lessig, who came to Brazil from Poland especially for the event, said that she started her career at the company 30 years ago as a technical consultant. Graduated in engineering, Jolanta spoke about the opportunities that life presented and how the change to the marketing communications area came naturally to her. The event also had the participation of the lawyer, Dr. Ana Júlia Kachan, MBA in social security law, who spoke about the importance of retirement planning.
Finally, Ana Hickmann spoke about the difficulties at the beginning of her career, the career change, from model to presenter on Rede Record television 18 years ago, and how she reconciles the time to be a businesswoman, presenter, wife and mother. Ana Hickmann ended her participation with the message “People have to choose where they want to go. There's no age to conquer what you want. We are ladies of our time.”
