Pilkington Technology Management Limited announces today that its antiviral glass development project has been successful in receiving a 100 per cent award from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency. The project evaluates the antiviral functionality of two coated products to actively reduce viral load on glass surfaces, specifically SARS-CoV-2.

The NSG TEC™ electroconductive glass won the MADE Award 2023 in the Envelope, facades and roofing, glass category. For the jury chaired by architect Luca Molinari, NSG TEC™ is "a technological innovation that raises the performance benchmark of thermally controlled glass and which sets itself as a new performance reference for the market".

The world’s first commercially-available vacuum glazing product, Pilkington Spacia™ was voted ‘Product of the Year’ at last year’s World Architecture News Awards for its strong energy efficiency performance and versatility.

The sixth NSG Group Health & Safety Project Award has been awarded to Automotive OE North America for their ‘Safety Patrol’ project.

Every 1 bar pressure reduction represents six per cent energy reduction in the electric compressor motors. The judges faced a challenge of reducing 46 environmental applications down to final ten, and further to these selected projects.

The awarded projects demonstrate an impressive creativity, flexibility and engagement to care and help communities in environmental and, first and foremost, social aspects.

Pilkington SaniTise™ the new antimicrobial glass scooped the British Glass Focus 2020 award in the category Design of the year – flat (sponsored by Glass International). Pilkington United Kingdom Ltd, a part of NSG Group, claimed two prizes during the event.

Launched in 2012, Quiet Mark supports technological innovation for quieter products and awards a stamp of approval to products or schemes that minimise noise. Products that have been awarded the purple Q stamp of approval include kettles, blenders, hairdryers and washing machines, hotels, silent musical instruments and now glazing.

Pilkington Spacia™ has been recognised by World Architecture News (WAN) and awarded the Product of the Year 2011.

The fifth NSG Group Environmental Project Award has been awarded to the VFG (Vietnam Float Glass) site for their ‘Reduction of waste hot water for glass washing’ project. This project reduces consumption of heated water for the washing of the float glass by interrupting the water spray through gaps between glass sheets on the line.
