Pilkington Pyroclear®


Pilkington Pyroclear® is a clear high performance monolithic fire-resistant and safety glass designed to provide basic integrity performance.

The uniquely designed edge technology makes Pilkington Pyroclear® a dependable and robust performer in the event of fire.

With its exceptional reliability in fire tests, Pilkington Pyroclear® sets new standards for the class of single-skin soda lime silicate fire-resistant glass and fire-resistant insulating glass units that remain transparent in the event of fire.

It is suitable for internal and external applications where basic integrity performance is required.

Applications


Pilkington Pyroclear® has been approved in single and double glazed units for use with steel and aluminium systems.

Pilkington Pyroclear® can be installed in doors, screens and partitions in line with national regulations as an effective barrier against fire, smoke and fumes.

  • Skylights and roof glazing, including sloped options 
  • External façades (to limit the risk of flame break out) 
  • Atrium interior side glazing 
  • Smoke barriers and screens
  • Large pane size capability in metal systems (e.g. 1.8 m x 3.5 m – E30) l Practical sizes and glazing arrangements for use in timber frames for doors and screens

Product Combinations


Pilkington Pyroclear® is a versatile fire-resistant glass that is not only characterised by its excellent fire-resistant properties, but can also be combined with additional functions to increase the comfort and efficiency of buildings. It can be integrated with Pilkington Solar Control technologies that help to maintain a comfortable indoor climate by reducing heat build-up from solar radiation. In addition, Pilkington Pyroclear® can be combined with thermal insulation, which helps to save energy by minimising heat loss in winter and reducing heat gain in summer. In addition, the self-cleaning properties provide a low-maintenance solution that ensures glass surfaces stay clean for longer, simplifying building maintenance. This combination of features makes Pilkington Pyroclear® an ideal choice for modern building projects that prioritise safety, energy efficiency and ease of maintenance.

Spectrum Calculation Program

Pilkington Spectrum is a Windows-based glass performance model which enables you to quickly and efficiently calculate key properties of insulating glass units without the need to construct and measure them. You can use Pilkington Spectrum to provide the following information:

  • Light and solar properties (transmittance, reflectance, absorptance, g value, etc.).
  • Centre pane Ug-value.
  • Sound insulation values.
  • Ultra violet (uv) transmittance and colour rendering index (Ra).
  • Other properties (e.g. pendulum body impact resistance, fire resistance, resistance to manual attack, etc.).
