Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra


Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra range consists of a sputtered off-line coated anti-reflective (AR) products based on a Pilkington Optiwhite™ low-iron substrate. Different versions of products are available such as monolithic, laminated, toughenable, either coated on one or both sides, including coatings with thermal insulation properties.

Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra is a monolithic glass with the an anti-reflective coating on one surface, which helps to reduce reflectance and allows more light to pass through, when compared to standard clear float glass with 8% light reflectance as standard. This product can also be coated on both sides and is available as Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra DC.

Both Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra and Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra DC can be toughened and after toughening are known as Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra T and Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra DC T.

Features & Benefits

  • Low reflection of approx. 1 % as a monolithic pane (for comparison: conventional monolithic glass has an external reflection of 8 %).
  • High colour neutrality.
  • Outstanding safety properties (through processing to toughened or laminated glass)
  • Durable, weather-resistant anti-reflective coating and therefore easy to handle (class A according to EN-1096).
  • Wide range of applications, e.g. for shop windows, showcases, zoo glazing, VIP lounges, sports stadiums.
  • Can be combined with other Pilkington glass products, e.g. acoustic or thermal insulation glass.
  • Available in thicknesses of 3 mm, 4 mm and 6 mm and up to a dimension of 3,210 mm x 6,000 mm. Other dimensions on request.

Products in the Range

  • Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra - a monolithic glass with an anti-reflective coating on one surface, typically incorporated in bespoke laminated constructions.
  • Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra DC - a dual-coated, anti-reflective glass giving a light reflectance of only 1%
  • Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra Protect - a laminated glass with anti-reflective coatings on surfaces #1 and #4 (both outer surfaces of the laminated glass), which helps to reduce the total visible light reflection to below 2%.
  • Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra Therm - a dual-coated glass with an anti-reflective coating on one side and a thermally insulating coating on the other side. This product is available in toughenable version Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra Therm Pro T and laminated version OptiView™ Ultra Therm Protect.

Spectrum Calculation Program

Pilkington Spectrum is a Windows-based glass performance model which enables you to quickly and efficiently calculate key properties of insulating glass units without the need to construct and measure them. You can use Pilkington Spectrum to provide the following information:

  • Light and solar properties (transmittance, reflectance, absorptance, g value, etc.).
  • Centre pane Ug-value.
  • Sound insulation values.
  • Ultra violet (uv) transmittance and colour rendering index (Ra).
  • Other properties (e.g. pendulum body impact resistance, fire resistance, resistance to manual attack, etc.).
