How it works
Today modern architecture favors transparency...
Today, architects prefer natural light and open spaces to determine the design of large buildings. Wherever these "open" concepts are located, transparent fire rated glazing allows modern, bright, open space designs, as well as safety to be combined in a variety of multi-functional systems.
Pilkington's fire resistant glass is represented in several hundred, fully tested ad approved glazing systems. This includes doors and partitions, various framing materials and designs, and curtain wall and roof glazing.
How it works...
Pilkington Pyrostop® fire rated glass is a multi-layered fire resistant glass made of low iron float glass (Pilkington Optiwhite™), laminated with special transparent interlayer's. When exposed to a fire, the pane facing the flames fractures, but remains in place while the interlayer immediately foams to form a thick, resilient and tough insulation shield which absorbs the energy from a blaze.
