In every region of the world in which we operate, the need to save energy and reduce CO2 emissions has never been as important as it is today. Buildings account for almost 50 percent of the energy consumed in developed countries. People, companies and communities are searching for better way to improve energy efficiency.
Pilkington North America has shown its commitment to energy conservation in building design and construction by partnering with the US Green Building Council to support the LEED®, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System™.
The LEED® Green Building Rating System provides a set of standards for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED® was developed to define “green building” by establishing a common standard of measurement and recognize environmental leadership in the building industry through a certification process of buildings on a point-system for specific building projects.
To learn more about how your project may qualify for LEED certification visit http://leed.usgbc.org/ . For assistance in evaluating whether our architectural glass products meet LEED or other green building certifications in your project, contact your Regional Sales Manager.
For many years, Pilkington energy efficient products have shown a commitment to the environment by carrying the ENERGY STAR label. With our most recent Green Building Partnership, Pilkington North America will ensure its float glass manufacturing facilities that produce energy efficient products are also operated with concern for the environment.
In partnership with ENERGY STAR, we will:
- Measure and track the energy performance of its facilities where possible by using tools such as those offered through ENERGY STAR;
- Develop and implement a plan consistent with the ENERGY STAR Energy Management Guidelines to achieve energy savings;
- Help spread the word about the importance of energy efficiency.
The Canadian Window and Door Manufacturers Association (CWDMA)
We has teamed up with CWDMA to actively support national standards and promote the harmonization of Canadian standards with international standards. CWDMA establishes and maintains national certification programs for windows and doors sold in Canada.
The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC)
NFRC develops and administers energy-related rating and certification programs. These programs provide fair, accurate and credible information on fenestration performance.
