Support for TCFD Recommendations

11 Nov 2021

The NSG Group is proud to announce to its support for the recommendations issued by the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures) (*1) and to join the TCFD Consortium (*2), a forum for discussions by supporting companies and financial institutions in Japan.

Based on the management principle “Our Vision”, the NSG Group defined “Materiality” (*3) and is working to attain sustainable growth of the Group and contribute to a sustainable society in the medium- to long-term.

In terms of the environment, addressing climate change in particular is a high priority management issue for the Group as a glass manufacturer. To this end, we are working to achieve the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets certified by the SBT Initiative (*4), and at the same time focusing on expanding sales of products that contribute to energy creation and energy conservation.

Under these circumstances, the Group has decided to express its support for the TCFD recommendations. In the future, in line with the disclosure framework published by the TCFD, we plan to enhance the disclosure content by quantitatively evaluating the potential impact based on climate-related risks and opportunities using climate scenario analysis.

At the same time, we would like to accelerate the development of glass manufacturing processes centered on renewable energy and show a concrete roadmap toward carbon neutrality at an earlier stage.

The NSG Group will continue to accelerate sustainability initiatives to realize a sustainable society.
