Self-cleaning

Roof-lights by their very nature are often situated in difficult to reach areas so the inclusion of self-cleaning glass such as Pilkington Activ™ in the windows is ideal. It should be noted that the self-cleaning process in Pilkington Activ™ includes the use of the rain to wash away loosened dirt. This process can work best where the glass is inclined at greater than 30° to the horizontal. It works at angles down to 10 degrees but becomes ineffective below that because of the poor water flow across the glass when it rains.

Self-cleaning glass is ideal for any external application, especially large areas like conservatories or difficult to reach places such as skylights. By continually cleaning itself, self-cleaning glass gives you a clearer view and your windows look cleaner for longer. It needs little maintenance, and can be combined with other types of glass for additional benefits such as security, heat insulation or keeping areas cool.
