NSG Group kicked off Women’s history month by sponsoring and volunteering at our local science center’s Girl Power event on March 2.

The 10th annual event, hosted at the Imagination Station in Toledo, Ohio, is designed to introduce girls in grades 3-8 to what is possible with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) through hands-on workshops and activities and opportunities to hear from female professionals.

“Girl Power aims to ignite a curiosity for the sciences and empower girls to follow their dreams, and after this experience, we hope these kids will be dreaming of glass,” said event coordinator Kayla Natividad.

With the help of employee volunteers from our Toledo, Luckey, Rossford, and Northwood locations, over two hundred pieces of tempered glass were broken, and families took away a little more knowledge of the glass they interact with every day.

Safety glasses and cut resistant gloves were provided, and the tempered parts were taped on one side to contain the broken particles. After attempting to break tempered glass with a mallet, the participants were shown how the glass can be easily broken with a prick punch.
