Last week, we were delighted to host the second NSG Group/University of Liverpool Symposium at our European Technical Centre in the UK.
NSG Group/University of Liverpool Symposium
The symposium offers an opportunity to bring together members of both institutions to showcase current and completed collaborative research projects between NSG Group and the Department of Chemistry, especially the Materials Innovation Factory, University of Liverpool.

The event included presentations from a number of University PhD students and academics, as well as NSG Group Research & Development team members.

Our close partnership with the University was reinforced through the signing of a memorandum of understanding last year, under which the University and NSG Group will explore new opportunities for collaboration with a strong focus on digital materials discovery to address key challenges including sustainability.

Dr. Su Varma, NSG Group’s Academic Director, R&D Incubator, said: “Our relationships with world leading academic research partners like the University of Liverpool support NSG Group to remain at the forefront of innovation. It was exciting to hear about new upcoming investment in ground-breaking technology which will support our future working, and we were proud to watch the excellent presentations from PhD students past and present. This event was an excellent showcase of two anchor institutions in the north west of the UK collaborating for both industry and wider public benefit, and together we are pushing the boundaries of science.

Professor Ronan McGrath, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Infrastructure and Partnerships, Faculty of Science of Engineering at the University of Liverpool, said: “It is inspiring to see the world-leading, high impact science that is being produced by PhD students from the University of Liverpool, in collaboration with NSG Group scientists from around the globe. Together we are tackling important societal issues in fields such as new materials discovery, CO2 capture and usage, and anti-microbial coatings. The strong interactions on display at this event between two key institutions in the North West of the UK and built over many decades of collaboration, illustrates the strength of UK innovation at the interface of academia and industry.”
