Pilkington FC was founded by the workers of the St Helens glass factories back in 1938 and has had long standing presence in the area since its formation, with Ruskin Drive its home; formally owned by Pilkington / NSG Group.

In March it was confirmed that funding for 290 home shirts for Pilkington Juniors, which spans across 29 teams from U7 - U17, had been secured from Pilkington Automotive for the 24/25 season.

Phil Jones, Concept Product Designer UK (Automotive), said: “There is still a strong connection between NSG Group / Pilkington and Pilkington FC, with three of the coaches working here, and over 15 staff with children who play for the club. Supporting our local community is really important to us, and we’re delighted to commit to extending the kit deal, which secures the funding for the Juniors’ kits until the end of the 24/25 season.”

A spokesperson from Pilkington FC Juniors said: ‘Pilkington FC Juniors are delighted to announce a continued sponsorship agreement with Pilkington Automotive to continue to be the official home kit sponsor for the Junior teams. The grassroots club based in St Helens at Ruskin Sports Village has a significantly increased team base over the last three year and the sponsorship support offered by Pilkington was used to secure the subsidised home kits across the Junior section for the next two season, covering 29 teams and almost 300 players. The support and alliance from the Pilkington brand, who were the founders of Pilkington FC in 1938, is seen as a huge coup for promoting the club, community, and town.’
