A binding target on energy efficiency that is supported by clear and cost-effective objectives is fundamental to a 2030 European framework for climate and energy policy.

This is the message that Glass for Europe will convey in its response to the European Commission consultation following the release of the Green Paper on energy efficiency.

Glass for Europe is the trade association for Europe's flat glass manufacturers and its members have high performance glazing solutions readily available that will enable Europe to achieve its objective of a competitive low carbon economy.  It argues that an ambitious high energy efficiency target in the building sector could be a major driver of competitiveness, growth and jobs in the EU.

Glass for Europe will call for a binding energy efficiency target that will support economic growth, sustain the competitiveness of Europe’s industries and facilitate the transition towards a low-carbon economy across all sectors of the economy.
