DCLG consults on changes to Part L

Press Release
08 Feb 2012
The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has launched a consultation on changes to the Building Regulations regime, including a number of revisions to support the Green Deal in Part L.

These changes would include new requirements for additional ‘consequential’ energy efficiency improvements where improvements (such as replacement windows) are already planned to an existing building and Green Deal funding is available as an option to meet the up-front costs.

These requirements would apply to extensions and increases in habitable space in existing homes from October 2012 and to non-domestic buildings from April 2014.

The full consultation closes on 27 April 2012, although responses related to the Green Deal should be submitted by 27 March 2012.
