The British Woodworking Federation (BWF) has hailed the UK’s inaugural Fire Door Safety Week a huge success, reaching millions of people over the period and resulting in significant political support from the Fire Minister.
Fire Door Safety Week was initiated by the BWF and BWF-CERTIFIRE Scheme and united the fire door industry to raise greater awareness of the critical role of fire doors. A regional and local radio campaign and extensive use of social media helped to ensure thousands of visits to the dedicated website.
Focusing on critical sectors such as healthcare and hotels, Fire Door Safety Week drew attention to specific issues such as poor installation and maintenance. The underlying message to building owners and facility managers was the need to understand the correct specification, supply, installation, operation, inspection and maintenance of fire doors in their buildings.
