W&W is the largest supplier of structural glass systems in the US and the exclusive distributor of Pilkington Planar
™ in North America. We have worked together for 24 years and over that time W&W has installed the structural glazing system on more than 2,000 projects, including the World Financial Centre at Brookfield Place, the Yankee Stadium and Yale University Art Gallery.
In his interview on Worldwide Business with kathy ireland®, Jeff Haber, managing partner at W&W Glass, spoke extensively of the benefits of the Pilkington Planar
™ system. Specifically, the product offers architects the opportunity to be more expressive in their work by using glass as a cladding system, allowing for a more transparent application of the façade.
He also touched on his favourite project the two firms have worked on during their 24-year partnership – the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. The iconic building pushes the limits of structural glass technology and transparency to its fullest potential.
The two main Pilkington Planar
™ facades soar more than 100 ft. above the terrace level, to a continuous, insulated, laminated low-e coated glass skylight that runs around the full 490 ft. perimeter of the building.
The overall project is glazed in more than 34,000 sq. ft. of Pilkington Optiwhite
™ low-iron glass and each glass panel is held in place by custom designed and manufactured stainless steel castings.
