Finance

The Finance function performs a key role in the control and development of the Pilkington Group throughout all its operations worldwide.

Group Finance, based in Group Headquarters, St Helens, UK sets overall financial policy and provides accounting, audit, treasury, tax and finance development services to the businesses across the Group.

The finance department in each business provides detailed management accounting information to assist managers in running the business in an efficient and effective manner, and ensures that local statutory accounting requirements are met.

Information is also provided electronically to Group Finance by the businesses to enable the Group as a whole to be properly directed and managed, and the half-yearly and annual results to be produced and published.

In the UK opportunities exist to qualify as a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

The internal CIMA training programme provides the practical experience necessary for qualification. The experience is gained by time spent in Group Headquarters, local business and European operations. The study facilities required to prepare for the formal examinations are offered.

Equally important, the training is designed to develop personal and overall management skills and abilities. The aim is to develop world class financial executives who can work within an international management team and make a real and significant contribution to the successful development of the overall business.

Those working in the more specialised areas of Treasury and Tax can pursue studies leading to membership of the respective professional bodies for these disciplines, where this is considered appropriate.
