United L-N now part of integrated flat glass business

27 March 2008
The United L-N Glass plant in Versailles, Kentucky has changed its name to Pilkington, becoming part of the NSG Group integrated Flat Glass business.

United L-N began producing automotive glass parts in 1987 as a joint venture between NSG and Libbey‑Owens-Ford/Pilkington. Subsequently, Pilkington was acquired by NSG in June 2006.  The company recently adopted the Pilkington name as the global flat glass brand for all markets to present a single face to our customers in the automotive and building products sectors.

As a result, it made sense to bring the United L-N Glass entity under the unified NSG Group Flat Glass Business trading under the name Pilkington North America, Inc. The integration of the Versailles plant into the Pilkington Global structure formalizes the company’s single strategic focus as an international glass maker.

“We are very proud of the 20-year successful history of United L-N Glass,” said Arnold Sato, Versailles plant manager. “We will now go forward as part of the NSG Group’s Flat Glass business, helping NSG as it transforms itself into a truly global organization.”

“Other than the name change, we do not expect any changes; we are still producing quality glass products for our customers.”
