Suncool Brilliant 40/22 launched

23 October 2007
The new Pilkington Suncool™ Brilliant 40/22 has been launched across Europe.
This expands the highest-performing section of the Pilkington Suncool product range, combining high natural light transmission of 40 per cent with very low total energy transmission of 23 per cent. A U-value of 1.1 offers the highest level so far of thermal insulation.
The combination of low solar heat gain and low energy transmission gives the glass all-year-round effectiveness by reducing energy costs for both cooling and heating the building.
"This development is in response to continuing high demand for energy efficient glass," said Emma Billinge, who led the commercial launch of the product. "Pilkington Suncool Brilliant 40/22 represents an innovative solution to energy saving directives in commercial buildings and allows architects to solve both heating and cooling issues with a single product."
Available in toughened, annealed and laminated versions, the glass is neutral in colour with just a subtle blue tint in reflection. Typical applications would be for façades, atria and walkways.
