Primary Care Centre uses Activ

30 January 2008
Narborough Road Primary Care Centre in Leicester is one of a new breed of PFI care centres built to the most exacting standards, and for this purpose, Pilkington Activ™ self-cleaning glass was specified for the windows on part of this modern, contemporary structure.

Designed by architects, the Design Buro, the building utilises the latest in design technology and innovative materials and Pilkington Activ fitted these criteria perfectly. The product has been installed into the ribbon windows of the focal and distinctive angled roof rotunda that lies at the centre of the building, with the windows encircling the top to flood the reception area below with natural light.

These bespoke windows comprising inward opening windows with automated actuators, were designed by Sapa Building Systems and fabricated and installed by Bonam and Berry, with Pilkington Activ specified to provide a low maintenance option.

The Narborough Road Primary Care Centre is part of the Government’s Local Improvement Finance Trust Scheme (LIFT) and is one of a number of projects in the area that has made use of Pilkington Activ, providing facility managers with significantly reduced maintenance costs, and the option of high performance glazing for most types of fenestration.
