Automotive supplies luxury Magelys coach
21 November 2007Automotive has supplied full glass sets for the new luxury Magelys coach from Irisbus.
Launched at the Kortrijk Bus and Coach Show in Belgium, in October, the coach features a complex curved windscreen assembly and an innovative use of upper curved glasses running the length of the vehicle at the junction of the sides with the roof."This is a step forward in terms of coach glazing," said global account manager Dave Hemingway. "It gives a very light and airy feel within the vehicle.
"The Magelys has been an exciting development in several aspects, including the complexity of the windscreen and the introduction of 3mm toughened glass for the side windows. Compared to the more usual 4mm, this represents a considerable weight saving."
Windshields for the Magelys are being made in Laitila and the toughened parts in Tampere. The coach is assembled at the Irisbus plant in France.
