Automotive expands windshield production capacity in Brazil

Windshield production capacity is being expanded at the Caçapava automotive plant in Brazil.
The new line, to be operated by Pilkington Automotive, is expected to be commissioned in early 2010 and will generate around 120 new jobs. It will have a capacity of one million pieces per year.
The automotive market in Brazil has grown rapidly over the past three years and local vehicle production is forecast to rise to around 5.3m vehicles a year by 2015. Caçapava is situated close to a number of major manufacturers, including Volkswagen and General Motors.
"We are already market leaders in South America and this investment gives us the opportunity to maintain that position," said the NSG Group Chairman Katsuji Fujimoto, who visited the site in September during a tour of the Group's South American operations.
