Health and Safety

The health, safety and wellbeing of all employees, contractors, visitors, neighbours and customers remain at the forefront of our business activity. The Group’s safety policy is based on the premise that all accidents are preventable. Our primary measure of safety performance is the lost time injury rate (LTIR) – recording any work-related injury or illness resulting in one or more day’s absence from work.

With safety performance throughout the Group improving year by year, a new measure has been introduced to track less severe injuries. The significant injury rate (SIR) measures any incident requiring medical attention or the reallocation of duties.

In addition to the routine safety training programmes in place in each business line, health, safety and the management of potential environmental impact have been incorporated into our senior management training programmes.
