Low-E glass used in LEED certified facility
16 March 2009The U.S. Air Force (USAF) Weather Agency headquarters in Nebraska moved from a windowless 1940's era building to a building with 9,516 square feet of exterior glazing, including Pilkington EverGreen Eclipse Advantage™. The building is a U.S.Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified facility.

Positioning the building to optimize sun angle, using sunshades and light shelves inside the windows and the highly efficient window glazing helps minimize energy use. About 50 percent less energy than a typical office building of the same size is used.
“The building also had to meet the Air Force’s blast resistance requirements in the curtain wall and glass,” said Mike Johnson, regional sales and marketing manager, Building Products North America. “Our EverGreen Eclipse Advantage Low-E glass was used in the outboard lite of the blast resistant insulated unit.”
