United Way builds for energy efficiency

18 December 2009

The United Way of Northwest Ohio has used more than 9,000 square feet of combined Pilkington Eclipse Advantage™ Grey over Pilkington Energy Advantage ™ Low-E for its new regional headquarters building in Toledo, Ohio.

United Way Building in Toledo, Ohio

The glass combination has been used primarily on the eastern and southern elevations to reduce glare, optimize daylight and minimize solar heat gain. The new two-story building replaces an old, energy inefficient one.

David Duly, from the Pilkington Technical Services Department in Toledo, worked with The Collaborative Architects to advise on the optimum combination of Pilkington glass products to meet their needs. The glass was fabricated into tempered insulated units by Oldcastle Glass in Perrysburg, Ohio, and Toledo Mirror and Glass was the glazing contractor.
