European Energy Surcharge
In October 2004, following the significant increases in energy costs during the previous months and in order to recover a part of these cost increases, Pilkington Building Products Europe announced an Energy Surcharge on all its glass sales.
The Energy Surcharge came into effect on 1 November 2004 and is adjusted quarterly, in line with the IPE Brent Crude price. The surcharge is linked to the IPE Brent oil price and will only apply while that price remains above $30 a barrel. When the value of the IPE Brent Crude drops below $30 per barrel, the surcharge will be removed.
1 May 2008 to 31 July 2008
The price of the IPE Brent at the close of business on 15 April 2008 was $111.58. Consequently the Energy Surcharge tariff for the quarter beginning on 1 May 2008 and ending on 31 July 2008 was set in the
$110 - $114 band
1 February 2008 to 30 April 2008
The price of the IPE Brent at the close of business on 15 January 2008 was $90.82. Consequently the Energy Surcharge tariff for the quarter beginning on 1 February 2008 and ending on 30 April 2008 was set in the
$90 - $94 band.
1 November 2007 to 31 January 2008
The price of the IPE Brent at the close of business on 15 October 2007 was $82.27. Consequently the Energy Surcharge tariff for the quarter beginning on 1 November 2007 and ending on 31 January 2008 was set in the
$82 - $86 band.
1 August 2007 to 31 October 2007
The price of the IPE Brent at the close of business on 13 July 2007 was $77.10. Consequently the Energy Surcharge tariff for the quarter beginning on 1 August 2007 and ending on 31 October 2007 was set in the $74 - $78 band.
The energy surcharge will next be reviewed on 15 July 2008. The IPE Brent price at the close of business on that day will then determine the tariff band for the following quarter, beginning on
1 August 2008.
