Associate Your Company with Pilkington energiKare™24 January 2011
In response to popular demand, Pilkington has widened elements of its valuable Pilkington energiKare™ scheme to include companies who have not yet registered their windows with the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC) but can still see the benefits of selling the energy efficient glazing. The Pilkington energiKare™ Associate scheme ensures energy efficiency is available to all.
The vast majority of modern framing systems incorporating Pilkington energiKare™ units would, if registered, achieve a BFRC Window Energy Rating (WER) of C or above, so although not actually being registered, they still have a stamp of energy efficiency approval. This simple result is achieved through the use of Pilkington K Glass™ and Pilkington Optiwhite™ in combination with argon gas or warm edge spacer bars. Should WERs not be the only compliance route for the changes to Part L of the Building Regulations England and Wales in 2010, those who have not registered their windows will find that they still easily meet the regulations via alternative means.
Andy McDowell, National Business Development Manager UK, Pilkington, said: “In the current economic climate we have seen a huge interest across large sections of our customer base for Pilkington energiKare™, but feedback from many prospective Partners showed that the upfront costs, lead-time and complexity involved in BFRC registration was the main reason not to sign up to become a Pilkington energiKare™ Partner.
“Whilst sales have been growing month on month, we have become increasingly concerned for the number of companies who were prevented access to our added value offer. By joining the Associate scheme window companies can start selling energy efficient units straight away.”
Becoming a Pilkington energiKare™ Associate gives window fabricators and installers the chance to become involved with the energy efficient glazing and the advantages of aligning themselves with the well-known brand. Associates’ windows can carry the Pilkington energiKare™ branding, use creative imagery for local advertising and carry a selection of the free marketing materials which has helped make the new glazing product a hit with homeowners.
Andy continued: “However, value is added through BFRC registration, so whilst companies may choose to delay this in the present climate therefore enabling more homeowners to benefit from our energy efficient glazing, it is still worth considering longer term.”
The additional benefits of eventually upgrading to full Pilkington energiKare™ Partner status by registering with BFRC windows containing Pilkington energiKare™ IGUs are;
• Appearance on Pilkington consumer website national supplier finder
• Access to full complement of free marketing materials including DVDs
• Use of homeowner installation certificate for all installed windows
• Link with BFRC and eligibility to apply for EST’s Energy Saving Recommended status and brand
It should be noted that all Pilkington energiKare™ IGUs must be sourced from an official Processor Partners (including Pilkington branches) to ensure the quality and consistency of the branded unit – whether in BFRC registered windows or not.
