Pilkington energiKare™ Double Glazing
Pilkington energiKare™ double glazing units are capable of helping windows to achieve a minimum Window Energy Rating (WER) of band C and up to band A in all framing systems.
All units consist of a low emissivity back pane taken from our Pilkington K Glass™ range; the original Pilkington K Glass™, Pilkington K Glass™ OW or Pilkington K Glass™ S and a front pane Pilkington Optiwhite™ to provide improved passive solar gain.
The base product to achieve Band C consists of Pilkington K Glass™ and Pilkington Optiwhite™ with either an argon gas filling or a warm edge spacer bar. The higher bands are achieved by using an improved performance Pilkington K Glass™ product and the use of argon gas filling and a warm edge spacer bar.
The range can thus provide a cost effective solution that meets all current building regulations (Part L 2010) at Band C or offer improved thermal insulation options which exceeds current and future government regulations with Bands B or A.
Windows achieving Band B and above are also eligible for the ‘Energy Saving Recommended’ status from the Energy Saving Trust.
Pilkington energiKare™ glazing units are twice as energy efficient as pre-2002 double glazing containing two panes of ordinary float glass. Therefore even relatively modern double glazing can benefit from upgrading the glass and keeping the existing frames.
