Pilkington Activ™ self-cleaning glass provides clear views of the Komodo dragon enclosure at London Zoo
03 December 2010Pilkington Activ has a unique dual action coating, that reacts with daylight to break down organic dirt (such as bird droppings) and then it uses rainwater to wash the dirt away. Pilkington Activ™ also dries off faster leaving the glass clean and with reduced streaks, creating beautifully clear views.
The self-cleaning glass is an environmentally friendly way to keep windows sparkling, which is important for the dragons habitat naturally landscaped to mimic its real-life surroundings. The enclosure, opened by Sir David Attenborough, forms an important part of the new European Conservation Breeding Programme, which will help protect the dragons from an uncertain future.
