In The Frame With Pilkington Activ™
02 July 2008A recent open weekend held at Brackenwood Windows head office in Basingstoke was deemed a huge success, with guest of honour, former world snooker champion Dennis Taylor well in the frame – literally! Long-term Pilkington distributor, Brackenwood, designed and manufactured an oversized version of Dennis’ trademark spectacles as a surprise treat, double glazed and complete with PVCu frames.
The showroom was transformed for the two day event to host Brackenwood’s very own Red Hot Big Break competition, open to any contestant of any age and ability to pot as many balls as possible in two minutes. Dennis himself proved his class in a winning match against local Basingstoke snooker champion, Martin Charlton.
Although the emphasis was on fun and enjoyment, visitors were given the chance to see for themselves Brackenwood’s extensive range of products, from doors and windows to luxury conservatories. Also on view was a range of Pilkington glass, including the self-cleaning Pilkington Activ™ and the newly launched Pilkington energiKare™, which reduces the amount of heat lost through the windows and at the same time, allows more free heat (energy) from the sun in through the windows.
Established since 1987, Brackenwood uses the highest quality materials in the manufacture of its components, always using a selection of Pilkington glass. The company has demonstrated its belief in the performance and quality of the glass by installing Pilkington Activ™ in their Kimbell Road showroom, which suffered difficult access for cleaning due to sloping ground and parking access restrictions on the ground level. “Customers can see for themselves how the glass works in situ,” comments Wendy Long from Brackenwood. “And using it in our own showroom reflects the fact that we have every confidence in the Pilkington products.”
The open day event had a tremendous response with visitors delighted with the entertainment and the range of products available on show, a range that has been installed across Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey.
