Direct Trade is now offering Pilkington energiKare™ with a Window Energy Rating (WER) of B as standard

Steve Green, Director, Direct Trade, said: “We have been a partner of Pilkington energiKare™ for just over a year now, offering the energy efficient glazing as standard to all our customers. It was an easy decision for us to take the next step and offer Pilkington energiKare™ windows with a WER rating of a B as standard on our biggest selling ranges. Our customers receive a window with a higher energy rating at no extra cost and they can pass this added value onto their customers, who can save more energy in the process – an important thing to consider in a tough economic climate.”

Andy McDowell, UK Business Development Manager, Pilkington, said: “Our partnership with Direct Trade is a perfect example of how Pilkington energiKare™ can add value to IGU manufacturers, fabricators and window companies throughout the country. The added value provided by the Pilkington energiKare™ range, and the technical expertise and marketing literature that accompany it, make it even easier to sell the Pilkington energiKare™ family range to customers and help homeowners save energy and money.”

Pilkington energiKare™ family is a range of energy efficient glazing and combines two leading Pilkington products, Pilkington Optiwhite™ and Pilkington K Glass™. According to the Glass and Glazing Federation calculator, when replacing single glazing with B rated windows, customers can save up to 47 tonnes of CO2 and £17,000 over a 20 year period.  As well as these impressive savings, Pilkington energiKare™ also allows more heat and light in from the sun, contributing positively to a home’s energy requirements. With more than a million windows incorporating Pilkington energiKare™ installed since the product’s launch in 2007, these results show Pilkington energiKare™ is an effective way to improve the energy-efficiency of a home. What’s more, Pilkington has estimated that if every household in the UK replaced their glazing with Pilkington energiKare™, over 20 years the nation would save a massive 234 million tonnes of CO2 and £149billion off their fuel bills.
