Kevin Moran, Managing Director of Crystal™, said: “We wanted to offer homeowners an easy way to reduce their fuel bills and by supplying windows with a Window Energy Rating (WER) of an A, at no extra cost we are doing just that. Being a leading supplier of windows and doors; we pride ourselves on providing products that have durability, value for money, and quality at their core. We have a deep threaded desire to provide the latest products and innovation to our customers - providing Pilkington energiKare™ A rated energy efficient windows, was a natural progression for us in this respect.”
In the first year after installing A rated glazing, when up grading from single glazing on a typical 3 bed semi detached; homeowners can save up to £159 on the cost of heating their home. Over a period of twenty years, this equates to a massive saving of over £8,200 off the homeowners fuel bills and 16.31 tonnes of CO2 being released into the environment.
Pilkington energiKare™ differs to normal insulating glass units as it allows more heat from the sun to pass through the glass, a process known as solar gain. The inner pane of low emissivity glass ensures less heat is lost. By maximising the amount of solar energy passing through the glazing, the homeowner will find that their homes will need less heating, and consequently will be able to save on fuel bills.
With the revised Part L 2010 of the Building Regulations coming into force later this year, both existing homes and new homes will have to meet tougher energy-efficiency measures, forward thinking window companies who supply A rated windows now, will easily meet the requirements and any future amendments as we move towards zero carbon homes.
From new homes to traditional buildings the Pilkington energiKare™ range of products meets and exceeds the proposed changes to Building Regulations for England, Scotland and Wales in 2010 and beyond.
