Summer Placement - Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the salary?
For 2009 the salary will be £220 per week for summer placements and £15,000 per annum for 12 month placements.
In addition to this we offer accommodation assistance for students who need to relocate for their placement.
2. Where are the placements?
The placements are at the Pilkington European Centre, Lathom and at Pilkington Manufacturing Sites in St Helens. Lathom and St Helens are situated between Liverpool and Manchester with easy access to the motorway network.
3. Will I receive help in finding accommodation?
Yes! If re-location is required we will provide you with accommodation assistance. Further information is available on request.
4. Do you offer sponsorship?
Yes! Based on your performance during the placement you may be invited back for a sponsorship selection interview. The sponsorship package includes a generous bursary and the guarantee of a placement next year. Sponsorships are reviewed annually and are a great way for you to take charge of your own career. Remember, you need to apply for the placement first.
5. When does placement selection begin and how long does it last?
The selection process commences as soon as application forms are received and we expect to have completed the first stage by the end of January. Interviews are likely to run from February to March.
6. How are travelling expenses handled?
Pilkington will reimburse reasonable travelling expenses for the interview.
