CPD Information
Pilkington Building Products - UK is a member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network which offers architects and other construction professionals genuine, high-quality CPD (Continuing Professional Development) material.
This is the only CPD assessed by the RIBA and it carries the prestige, good name and industry respect that the RIBA, as an 167-year-old professional institution, provides. All material is rigorously assessed within strict best practice guidelines by one of our team of assessors, all RIBA members and practicing architects.
RIBA frequently re-visit the assessment process to fit in with changes in best practice guidelines. They also carry out continual quality checks to maintain high standards.
We currently offer 3 CPD Seminars:

Seminar 1 details - Glass for Fire Resistance
(minimum of 6 attendees required)

- When to specify fire resistant glass

Seminar 2 details - Glass for Energy Management
(minimum of 15 attendees required)
- How clear, tinted and coated glasses are manufactured
- Emissivity - what it is and its role in controlling heat loss through glazing
- Solar heat transmission - how different glass types and their coatings work in controlling solar heat gain
- The physical limitations imposed by the solar spectrum (light vs heat)
- The products available in the market
Seminar 3 details - Glass and Structural Glazing Systems
- Brief history of glass in architecture
- Explanation of the design principles and components involved
- Understanding of typical production and manufacturing routes
- Typical applications and support structures
- Testing, Health and Safety considerations
