Cut Costs and Fuel Bills

01 February 2011

Leading glass manufacturer, Pilkington, is helping home owners reduce their carbon footprint with the introduction of Pilkington energiKare™ – a new glazing solution that’s twice as energy efficient as standard double glazing.

With concerns about global climate change and fuel bills escalating, Pilkington energiKare™ has been specifically designed to cut energy loss from the home – thereby in turn saving home owners money on their heating bills. Compared to a typical single glazed window, Pilkington energiKare™ cuts net heat loss by 90%.  This equates to reducing home CO2 emissions by 200kg per home per year and slashing £80 - £100 off annual fuel bills.

Pilkington energiKare™ is so energy efficient that if everyone who could replaced their single glazed windows with windows containing Pilkington energiKareTM, the UK would save 3.5 million tonnes of CO2 – enough to fill over 706,000 hot air balloons - and save £0.5 billion a year.

In addition, windows made with Pilkington energiKare™ will receive a window Energy Rating (WER) of A, B or C and are therefore ‘Energy Saving Recommended’, providing assurance that the windows are particularly energy efficient.
