The Product Knowledge courses are back!

The Pilkington Product Knowledge training programme for 2013 has been announced.  As expected, the traditional and ever-popular PK1 and PK2 (Advanced) training courses feature prominently, ranging in levels from introductory and intermediate through to advanced.  A new aspect is a series of shorter courses that have been devised for increased flexibility and focus.  These are half- and one-day courses covering important subjects such as energy performance, fire protection and mechanical strength.

Pilkington Planar™ has been used to transform a Grade II Listed building into a state of the art youth centre in Middlesbrough. Prior to renovation the Georgian building, last used in 2001, was in a virtually derelict state. Pilkington Planar™ and various types of Pilkington glass, have since helped create a stimulating contemporary environment for young people of the area.

Pilkington Planar™ has been used in an award winning refurbishment of the historic St Thomas' Hospital in London. St Thomas’ Hospital is a renowned teaching hospital located in central London, opposite the Houses of Parliament on the south bank of the River Thames. Given its prominent location and out-dated building, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust felt that its Gassiot House outpatients centre was in need of a serious refurbishment.

With thousands of visitors descending on London in 2012, some of the city’s more aged infrastructure desperately needed upgrading. Blackfriars and Stratford Regional were among the railway stations chosen for major redevelopment. Pilkington Planar™, the innovative structural glazing system, was a key element of the new design of both stations. Its use went a long way to helping create stations suitable for a 21st century Olympic city.
