How are windscreens made?

Firstly we cut the glass to size; then we grind the edges of the glass to ensure it is safe to handle. The glass is then washed and dried, and the 2 sheets are placed on top of each other in the furnace, where we bend the glass to the exact shape required.

Once cooled, the glasses are separated and an interlayer is placed between the sheets. At this point we remove all the air from between the 2 sheets and the glasses go into an autoclave where we subject them to heat and pressure for a few hours.

Finally the glasses are inspected for optical performance, size and shape and then we despatch them to the customer.
