Pilkington Activ™ Hits Home

The post campaign research results of our Spring & Autumn activity for the Pilkington Activ™ campaign are in with the fantastic news that the equivalent of nearly 1,000 houses a week are now being glazed with our self-cleaning glass. This is almost three times the amount than before the campaign. At the same time more than 590 window and conservatory installers have signed up to our web-based supplier finder and 25.8 million adults saw one of the Pilkington Activ™ commercials at least once across the campaign, and on average 3.8 times.

The website is now based around a Product Directory which enables you to access our range by the benefit it offers, the performance you require, by brand name or by application. The application page is an ideal one to use to show your customers how added value glass can be used in the home or in commercial buildings. Polishing Up Our Brand Reputation

What do you think of when you see the Pilkington logo? As with other well known brands, the values that the Pilkington brand portrays are embodied in the logo and that makes it an extremely important asset for us and for our customers especially since householders across the UK and Ireland know and recognise it as a good one. We are therefore going to re-emphasise the benefits of our brand in a trade advertising campaign which kicks off in the New Year.  As well as reinforcing the brand values the campaign will highlight the benefits of working with Pilkington.

Big Thumbs Up For Our Pilkington4Architects Website
Following the launch of our website exclusively for Architects www.pilkington4architects.co.uk we carried out research on how well the site meets their needs. The results are now in and the good news is that the improvements we have made are definitely what was required. Nearly half of respondents said that the new site met their needs fully, 63 per cent said it is an improvement on the old site, and 36 per cent concluded that it is a huge improvement. Overall they felt that they would visit our site more frequently in future.

London's Selwyn House Hots Up

On 29th November we held an information day for Editors of key contractor journals at our London Office, Selwyn House. The idea was to brief journalists on the new Regulatory Reform Order (RRO) which came into force in October. The day, led by Mike Wood, Global Consultant, Fire Protection Glass, emphasised Pilkington expertise and market leading fire related product offering to journalists from Building, Master Builder, ABC&D, The Constructor, Building Products and Architecture Today.

Sales Conference is a Hit in Nottingham
On the 9th November we held our sales conference at the Hilton Hotel, East Midlands Airport and it was well attended by Pilkington Sales people from across the country. Among the many updates given during the day, two key matters affecting customers were discussed. Garry Smith, Technical Advisory Manager demonstrated the importance of understanding the issues surrounding CE Marking and Andy McDowell, Product Manager explained the benefits available to customers who adopt the Window Energy Rating (WER) system. Family Friction Equals Fantastic Football Results
After another exciting month for Pilkington Fantasy Football League managers, our very own Mark Yates walked off with the Manager of the Month award. The St Helens warehouse operator is the brains behind Allstars 7 – and now has £300 of Marriott Hotel vouchers to spend on a weekend away with his family.

Forthcoming Events
At the end of January we will be holding a series of seminars for customers across Ireland to update them on the latest ways in which to use value-added glazing to satisfy homeowners and increase profits. We’ll be visiting Belfast, Galway and Dublin and are looking forward to welcoming local customers to provide an update on Pilkington Activ™ and the latest Building Regulations concerning energy efficiency.  Details will be mailed in the next couple of weeks.

Pilkington In The Press

In the last month we achieved several large editorial pieces including an exclusive interview with our Managing Director, David Pinder in Building magazine. The feature focused on important issues facing the industry such as building regulations, technical developments and the rises in gas and oil prices.  Meanwhile Glass and Glazing Products focused on the hard versus soft coat debate, and What’s New in Building and Housing Association Building Maintenance on the new Regulatory Reform Order (RRO) concerning fire safety. There was also coverage on A-rated window energy ratings in Glass and Glazing Products.
