Pilkington Gets Political At Party Conferences

Our Managing Director, David Pinder and Market Development Manager - Europe, Rick Wilberforce, were in action during the political party season, discussing glazing and construction. David chaired a fringe event at the Conservative party conference in Blackpool while Rick was in Bournemouth at a Labour party conference fringe event with the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF).

Sign Up For Energy Efficient Savings With Pilkington

Pilkington Activ™ + RIBA = Activ In Architecture II

We have joined forces once again with RIBA Journal to launch Activ in Architecture II, a competition to find a new building that would most benefit from our self-cleaning glass, Pilkington Activ™. It can be any type of building, from a house refurbishment to new-build offices, where the installation of Pilkington Activ™ will improve the look of the building and make a positive impact on its functionality. The winning building will have its windows upgraded to the market leading Pilkington Activ™ .

This month we put the spotlight on Senator Windows, who is one of the first companies to partner with us to supply Pilkington energiKare™. Senator Windows are leading the way in developing windows with high Window Energy Ratings in Ireland and we have been working closely with them for nearly a decade. Because of this the window installer felt that a partnership with Pilkington energiKare™ was the perfect fit for its WER credentials.

Pilkington Planar™ Sails Into Liverpool

Liverpool is the European Capital of Culture 2008, a city famous for the Beatles and football, and now it has another talking point thanks to with the construction of a 350 metre-long pier at its historic docks which will hold some of the world’s largest cruise liners. The impressive building which sits at the end of this walkway has been designed to welcome passengers from the ships, as well as see them off in style. The £17million development owes its striking appearance to the Pilkington Planar™ frameless structural glazing system, which was installed by O.J. Taffinder Ltd.

Once again Pilkington has been hitting the headlines in the press this month.  A high profile Pilkington Activ™ project at the Hilton Hotel, Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, Helsinki dominated the pages of the trade press, including Glass Times.  The Fabricator highlighted our upcoming Pilkington energiKare™ events and Glass and Glazing Products continued this theme by giving a low down on the new energy efficient IGU.

Bye Bye Mourinhio… Hello Avram Grant??!!

Another month has flown by in the Premiership and we’ve seen the first managerial casualty of the season. The Special One, Mr Mourinho himself, has left the Blues by mutual consent and is already being linked to other football clubs throughout the world. One man who could have been in line for his job is our very own David Pinder who at the time of writing was in the top 50 with his side Pindermonium. How has he done it? Mainly by packing his team with Manchester United players it seems. But who are we to judge? It seems to be working and no, it isn’t a fix.
