The Pilkington Planar™ System - Design Loads

A structural glass system has to be aesthetically pleasing, but must also withstand a variety of loads. Positive and negative wind loads as well as snow loads must be resisted by the system and transferred through the fixing locations. The system uses a combination of thickness of glass, panel size and number of fixings to accommodate for a variety of loads. Single Glazed Pilkington Planar™ is available in a range of sizes from 10-19mm thick, while other glass constructions such as Single Glazed Laminated and both Double & Triple Glazed Insulating Glass Units are also available to accommodate your specification requirements.
Pilkington Planar™ requires a minimum 3 degree slope to eliminate ponding of water on the glass.
